Ordinary/Extraordinary

This book is a fun read. Wouldn't we all like to know and sometimes feel what others are thinking? The reluctant hero manages to use his new found gift for justice(mostly)and finds kindred spirits in others who believe in fairness and loyalty. The bad guys are indeed bad and Pence's descriptions of the emotions of hate that emmanates from them reveals how fearful it would be to experience those feelings. This book suprises you and holds your attention with the intrigue that political and criminal elements depend on to manipulate their community. Danger lurks around every corner as Robert hones his skills. Sometimes the mind is indeed a terrible thing.

The idea of mind reading can be tough to pull off, but in At First Thought it is done very well. The protagonist suddenly discovers he can read minds and then goes on a journey to pull down a corrupt crime lord who is running the politics of the city. Set in a future Nashville that is somewhat reminiscent of today. Overall, a great read, but do be warned this book has some explicit sex scenes so it may not be for your 8 year old.

This is a great read for anyone that likes an intense good verses evil story. It is easy to see that Pence knows both sides of criminology in depth, but he presents it on a fashion that is easy to understand and entertaining for everyone. The emotions seem real and it's very easy to get caught up in the story. Great job, Ken, keep'em coming.
