About the Author
M. Lee Prescott is the author of numerous works of fiction for adults, young adults and children. Three of her nonfiction titles have been published by Heinemann and she has published numerous articles in the field of literacy education. Lee is Professor of Education at a small New England liberal arts college where she teaches reading and writing pedagogy. Her current obsessions are the triolet and sonnet, forms she never thought she would/could write! She uses these poetic structures to bring life and authenticity to her fiction. Lee’s current research focuses on mindfulness and connections to reading and writing. She regularly teaches abroad, most recently in Singapore. Her passions are grandchildren, yoga (she loves Kripalu!), swimming, bouncing and walking. Before moving to higher ed. Good Storyline

Overall, a good story line that kept me interested throughout. However, other than an initial reference to a long ago event (no spoilers here) in the beginning of the book, the content was written in present day tense and the conflicting use of British and American slang from multiple eras was a distraction and made reading the book less enjoyable. There were also a lot of what I call "thesaurtic words" (my own coined phrase) meaning the book reads as if someone looked up adjectives in a thesaurus and plugged in high end words throughout the content. Maybe doing so raised the reading level score, but it was not needed and detracted from the story.

An engaging mystery...

A Friend of Silence is a mystery set on the campus of a Quaker school. But don't be fooled by the setting. The worldly life of the faculty and students keeps this story moving. Murder and mayhem come to mind. No guessing the ending of this mystery. Lee Prescott created a great story with well developed characters and a fast pace that will keep you entertained. Well done, Ms. Prescott!

An enjoyable suspense/mystery.

Didn't think at first I was going to enjoy this book - the locale is New England but seemed to be written by a British author and that was distracting. After I got a ways into the book though and put that issue out of my mind I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. It kept me guessing and I didn't suspect the ending, missed the clues. Unlike many ebooks I've read there were not a lot of editing errors, a real plus in my book. Overall a very good enjoyable read.

Get to the other side by going right through it....

In the summer of 2014, out of the clear blue sky, I had my first panic attack on an a flight from Atlanta to Chattanooga, TN. Fortunately, I was able to exit the airplane before takeoff, but began to spin rapidly downward into a world of which I had no understanding - in fact, completely bewildered, scared, and depressed. Most people have no idea what's happening when they have a panic attack, and I was no different. After seeing my GP (who diagnosed it immediately), I scheduled 6 sessions with a well-meaning but relatively ineffective counselor who recommended relaxation techniques that were only mildly effective. I was in a season of job change, and this was going to effect it radically, as I was heading back into consulting with consistent travel, meetings, interactions, etc. Panic and anxiety was exploding into agoraphobia, to the point that I couldn't go to the back of my local grocery or club store without feeling the walls closing in on my life. I was in prison.

Only by the grace of God did I stumble upon Barry McDonagh and the Panic Away program. I consumed every ounce of his information, and began to practice his techniques: 1. Say "so what is the worst that can happen?" 2. Fully and completely accept and allow the discomfort (NOT DANGER) or anxious feelings and thoughts 3. Face it down - dare it to do its worst and 4. Engage in another activity - dwell in the moment to reacclimate the brain.

Unlike many other programs, Barry's counter-intuitive approach of addressing our fears and anxiety head on forced me to deal with discomfort in a new way, and to prove to myself that I could push through anxiety and stretch out my boundaries. Anxiety is no longer something from which to "be cured," rather, it's a condition that I'm learning to welcome and live with, converting anxiety into excitement. Thank Heaven for this book!

I am a physician who has battled with anxiety for decades. This is the most helpful book, professional therapy or medication I have ever experienced. It is an amazing book full of wisdom, insight and practical tools that you can use to help free yourself from your anxiety. I have listened to the audio book MANY times in the months since I obtained it on the Indiegogo campaign before the public launch. (The audio book is now available at [...] if you buy the book on Amazon.) It has made a tremendous difference in my life. I understand my anxiety issues better, my anxiety levels have dropped significantly and I know how to deal with them. I am a religious person. This is the first non-scripture book for which I have thanked God in prayer. In all sincerity I recommend this book without reservation for anyone with any anxiety, worry, obsessive-compulsive, or panic disorder. STUDY this book! Read it over and over and glean a great perspective, obtain great tools and bless your life with the ability to treat (not manage) your anxiety!

The One I've Waited 20 Years For

As someone who has suffered with severe anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia for nearly 20 years, this is the first review I've ever written for an aid in the disorder. I would encourage sufferers to give it a chance. I have felt hopeless, like nothing would ever work for me. I've tried so many things over the years with no success. Simply Transformational

This book is transformational! That's the easiest way to put it. I recently heard a sermon by Liz from a podcast called "Company of Burning Hearts" and in that sermon she mentioned that she was a writer. I loved what she had to say so much that I decided to look and see if she had any books and I found "Ekklesia Rising" and decided to get it. Before this time I had never heard of her or her ministry.

When it arrived in the mail I honestly will say I was disappointed. I did not expect it to be so thin, especially for $17 (shipping and book). So when I got it I thought to myself, "If it's good, and truly has amazing revelation, then I'll give it five stars. However if it's not that good I'll rate it something lower."

Well, even though the book has less than 100 readable pages total (not including dedication, acknowledgments, endorsements, etc) it took me almost a week to finish reading it. I would read a few pages and get so overwhelmed or mind-blown that I would just have to put it down and go do something else while I pondered the concepts. All of the content, except for the Greek meaning of Ekklesia (pg. 87), the idea behind Peter's shadow healing people (pg. 83), as well as her personal encounters (various pages), I had heard before. The only difference is the way in which it was presented. Liz writes in a way that not only allowed me to understand the revelation, but to open my heart and create in me a hunger for more; a hunger to actually step into the things of God that I have been hearing so much about. The entire book continually reminded me of the simplicity of what our relationship with Jesus needs to be and and the simplicity of who we now are in Him.

My huge frustration with the entire book were some small editing errors. There were times I felt that there needed to be an "apostrophe s" at the end of a word. For example, on page 35, "Do you realize that you have always been the intention of Jesus heart and are the focus of the Godhead?" In that sentence I felt that it would flow better written as "Jesus's heart". This was frequent in the book and it had me re-read several sentences a few times to understand what was being said.

I also loved the fact that Liz included quotes from people in various denominations! It was great seeing those perspectives from the quotes and it even challenged me at times to continue letting go of false pretenses and judgements. Especially in reference to Charles Spurgeon, whom I did not like very much (and overall still wouldn't prefer), but now see a different side of a man whose writing's I couldn't stand.

I have already highly recommended this book to a number of my friends and I truly believe this book has transformational power (if we let it). I am waiting eagerly to read more of what Liz has to share, but for now I will just re-read this again and continue being challenged to perfect simplicity and to allow Jesus to transform myself into His likeness.

i loved her faith and depth of knowledge of the kingdom and her beautiful intimacy with jesus..once i let go and let her prophecy, which is what the whole book basically felt like, rather than information, i could enjoy the ride..and then i could practically smell the perfume coming off her words, the smoky heady incense of encounters with Bridegroom Jesus and the intoxicating fruit the she ate..like someone said, you don't listen to great preachers, you drink from them..she is one of them as she, herself, is, the message..thank you Liz!

About the Author
Steve’s research interests are in practitioner research where he has worked with networks of teachers on the development of their classroom evaluations. He has also been involved with the development of Education Studies as a subject in HE. Steve has been chair of the British Education Studies Association and was more recently involved in the review of the Education Studies Subject Benchmarks for QAA.

Steve currently teaches research methods on the master’s in leadership and management and education studies on the combined awards program.

Diana Burton is Professor of Education and Director of the Centre for Developmental and Applied Research in Education at the University of Wolverhampton. She was formerly Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Education at Liverpool John Moores University, where she was previously Dean of Education. She worked for many years at Manchester Metropolitan University leading teacher education programmes and was a secondary school teacher before that.

Diana has a Masters and PhD in the field of Educational Psychology. She is the author of a number of books and articles on pupil learning, teacher development, educating children with behavioural, emotional and social disadvantage, citizenship and social justice. While examining the competition for Muhammad’s charismatic authority, Takim investigates the Shi>ite self-understanding of authority and argues that this was an important factor in the formation of a distinct Shi>ite leadership. The Heirs of the Prophet also provides a new understanding of textual authority in Islam by examining authority construction and the struggle for legitimacy evidenced in Islamic biographical dictionaries.
