This is an important and very timely assessment of how imperialism has evolved since publication of Lenin's "Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism" (included in its entirety) 99 years ago. It examines and reaffirms Lenin's core theses - the tendency toward monopoly, the built-in drive toward war, the domination of finance capital, particularly the banks, etc, while outlining critical changes in global politics over the past century. Chapters include, "From inter-imperialist war to global class war," covering roughly the period of 1945-1991, and "The unipolar era of imperialism and its potential undoing, covering 1991-present. "Imperialism in the 21st Century" is a must read for activists and all who are interested in world politics.
